Usage Guide & Best Practices

Welcome! This page is designed to help you get the maximum benefit from your Thermera chill tubs and infrared saunas, while using them safely and effectively. Whether you're recovering after training or simply improving wellbeing, following these best-practice guidelines will ensure a great experience.

Chill Tubs (Cold Water Immersion)

Benefits

Regular cold immersion may help to:

  • Reduce muscle soreness and inflammation
  • Speed up recovery after training
  • Improve circulation
  • Support mental resilience and stress management

Many users also report improved sleep and a noticeable boost in mood.

Chill Tub

Best Practice Guidelines

  • Temperature: Typically between 8–12°C (facility-set)
  • Duration: Start with 1–2 minutes, building gradually
  • Breathing: Slow, controlled breathing helps the body adapt
  • Position: Submerge slowly — chest level is sufficient

Beginners should always start short and increase exposure gradually over multiple sessions.

Safety Considerations

  • Do not use if you have heart conditions, circulatory disorders, or uncontrolled high blood pressure without medical advice
  • Avoid use if feeling unwell, dizzy, or light-headed
  • Never force yourself to stay in longer than comfortable
  • Exit immediately if you feel numbness, chest pain, or shortness of breath

Cold exposure is a stressor — controlled exposure is key.

Infrared Sauna

Infrared Saunas

Benefits

Infrared sauna use may help to:

  • Promote muscle relaxation
  • Improve circulation
  • Support detoxification through sweating
  • Aid recovery and flexibility
  • Reduce stress and tension

Unlike traditional saunas, infrared heat penetrates deeper at lower air temperatures, making it gentler and more accessible for many users.

Best Practice Guidelines

  • Session length: 10–30 minutes depending on experience
  • Hydration: Drink water before and after use
  • Posture: Sit or recline comfortably
  • Cooling down: Allow time to cool gradually after exiting

Safety Considerations

  • Avoid use if pregnant, dehydrated, or feeling unwell
  • Stop immediately if you feel dizzy, nauseous, or uncomfortable
  • Allow your body time to cool before exercising again
  • Always follow the facility's guidance and posted rules
Sauna Interior

Use of our Sauna

Use the sauna only if you are feeling well and free from illness. Drink water before and after your session to stay hydrated. Shower before entering the sauna to keep the space clean and hygienic.

Start with short sessions, especially if you are new to sauna use. A typical session lasts between 10 and 20 minutes. Listen to your body and leave the sauna immediately if you feel dizzy, uncomfortable, or unwell.

Sit or lie comfortably and avoid blocking ventilation areas. If using a shared sauna, be mindful of others and keep noise to a minimum.

After leaving the sauna, allow your body to cool gradually. Take a cool shower or rest for a few minutes before resuming normal activity. Avoid intense exercise immediately after use.

Do not use the sauna if you are pregnant, have heart or blood pressure conditions, or have been advised against heat exposure by a medical professional. Never use the sauna under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Always follow the facility's specific guidance and safety notices.

Combining Cold & Heat Therapy

Alternating heat and cold (contrast therapy) can be beneficial for some users, but:

Start Conservatively

Begin with shorter sessions

Avoid Extreme Durations

Don't push too far too fast

Listen to Your Body

Everyone responds differently

There's no "one-size-fits-all" — recovery should support your training, not compete with it.

Who Should Be Cautious?

Please seek medical advice before use if you:

  • Have cardiovascular conditions
  • Have circulation or nerve disorders
  • Are pregnant
  • Have a history of fainting or cold intolerance

If in doubt — sit it out or speak to staff.
